wear sunscreen

because, seriously, this is ridiculous. this is the picture chip sent me last week while in LA on business. the story goes that he was "on a conference call laying by the pool and kind of fell asleep". (i know, nice job, right?).. when he woke up and made his way inside, he found he had turned a shade of red rarely seen in the natural world.

i lost all sympathy for him years ago, after about the 13th time he "accidentally" got burnt out of his gourd. but i'm putting his current truly sad state to good use (a stiff neck is now topping off the blisters and red, peeling skin); eve and ruth are more sure than ever about the importance of sunscreen. ruth has even taken to educating charlie about it. "it's so so easy and funny to spray it on. but not in your nose. and not just where your shorts are, 'cause then you look like daddy. like a lobster. or a really red crayon."

..

edit: ruthie states she never said daddy looks like a lobster ('cause lobsters are black). she said he looks like a monster or "a blood guy". my mistake.

Oh no! Silly boy!

Although... I was once guilty of falling asleep by a pool in the sun... We were on holiday, it was warm, the deck chair was comfortable and the drinks were rather yummy..... and then my legs were very burnt. But not as red as that!

:)

oh thats nasty! Poor guy. Apparently, bathing in cold black tea helps...but by the looks of it, it could be to late.
My hubby has done the same thing every summer.
When will they learn.

OUCH. That's definitely a 2nd degree burn. And as stupid as this sounds for a sunburn he really should probably see a doctor. Been there, done that.

Oh, ouch! I thought I had been stupid with burns. Oiiiiiii!

oh dear me. I really never have seen that shade of red before. well, it's like you say, at least someone learned a lesson (the kids, that is, apparently chip has "learned" this lesson before).

I can vouch for the accuracy of these photos, having seen Chip in person that evening. We found our bottle of Aloe Vera and insisted he take it with him. I could see he was really going to need it!

My sister-in-law treated me to a Maui trip that she won from her work place. Other employees also won the same trips. There was a woman that was blonde with fair skin that was playing at the beach while we were there playing and that night at a special dinner, I saw her in the restroom and she was head to toe (even her scalp) the same color as your man. I felt so bad for her. I can't imagine what she went thru as it started to really hit her. I hope he's well. Take care.

OUCHIES. It hurts to just see it.. my husband gets slightly pink and then i have to hear how badly he is burned lol. THAT (the pic) is a TRUE BURN :)

September 2, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterLeane

Oh wow... that is a serious sunburn. I got one probably about half that bad a few weeks ago, worst sunburn in years. I'm still slightly reddish on my cleavage, of all places. Poor fair skin.
