thanksgiving was fun and delicious and the visit from (a part of) the joneses was even better. i've had no time to check the internet, emails or even voice mail and it has been wonderful. apologies to all who've been ignored the past week and a half. i'll be getting back to you shortly.
my projects have been fairly pathetic lately. too lazy. too tired. too unmotivated. and here we have the big reason why:
yes, child number three is in the works. coming up on 17 weeks. and the word from the dr who gave me an ultrasound a few weeks ago after some mystery pains is that this one is a boy. a boy. it took a few days to get over the fact that we wouldn't have three little girls all in a row- we love girls- but now we're really starting to embrace the idea. the idea of a mini chip running around makes me laugh and will be crazy. although if he follows chip's course, i'll be lugging him around and spoon-feeding him for the first two years until he decides to start running away and talking non-stop. but at least he'll be entertaining.
to all dear friends who are finding out about this for the first time here, please accept my apologies. know that i love you and if i weren't so lazy and tired i would have called or at least emailed you personally with the news. but by kid number three, it's kind of no big deal right??
in order to preserve some of the child's dignity i have not included the ultrasound with the giant arrow pointing to his privates. really? do they have to use that giant arrow? at least this time they didn't type out "it's a boy!" along the top like they did with ruth. except ruth was a girl, clearly, and they knew that.

Congrats, cous! We're thrilled for you! Sherri alerted me to the new news on your blog, and we couldn't be more excited. What's up with the wave of boys in the McEuen family, seriously?! You'll LOVE a little boy, though! I, too, took some time to get used to the idea of having a boy, but now that Eliot's here, I couldn't imagine life without him! Congrats!
Congrats to all of you!!! Hope you are feeling well Katie.
#3 is definitely a big deal!!
i am very excited for you and your family. boys are lots of fun too, you'll love it.
i hope that you are feeling well!
Katie and Chip! I am so excited about this post. I was actually checking your blog waiting for your next post so I could write a comment- the comment I was waiting to write was that the other day I went to go see August Rush. The first thing I thought when I saw the little boy who stars in the film was "he looks so much like Chip!" I'm telling you, the resemblance is uncanny. very cute little boy and very cute movie- go see it soon and see what your new little boy might just look like (: Congratulations! You are going to LOVE it and Eve and Ruthie will love having a little brother.
Also, Chip is most definitely not allowed to read our recent post entitled "Ka Mano O Hawaii." seriously, don't do it.
Aloha,
Patria and Mark
Patria,
of course after reading your comment I immediately checked your blog and am terrified. But that doesn't mean I don't want to bring the whole family to Hawaii and try to surf!
congratulations!!! I totally thought you were going to tell us you are having twins!
After that scare, I am say with a deep exhale that a boy will be a breeze compared to the idea of twins! ;-)
He will rock. the girls will love being mommy jr.s I bet!
Is Adam in the list of names? That would be sort of cool.
Oh how exciting! Congratulations Katie & Chip! I'm so happy for you. :)
OMG!!! CONGRATULATIONS! I'M TOTALLY E-SCREAMING BECAUSE I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU! That's so awesome. PS- I never got the big arrow thing either. People bring these ultra sound pictures to work for people to ooh and aah over and it feels weird when it's a shot of the kid's personal parts. And also when it's an unrecognizable alien peanut. Thanks for posting a recognizable profile. ooooh, aaahhhh... CONGRATS!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS! Boys are wonderful (and I'm saying that even though Jacob gave Jane ANOTHER haircut today!) I'm so excited for you and your adorable family. Hey - will that apartment be getting too small for you?? I highly recommend you move here!
you are showing now, no? lets see the belly!

Congratulations! I found another roomate's blog, although she hasn't updated it in months:

YEA!!!!!!!AND A BOY! HOW COOL! It will be a big change but lots of fun. Unless your girls are unusually loud you can count on that being part of your new found collection of interesting things that will happen. I can't wait to hear how things progress. I hope that you are getting rest, and feeling well.
The thought of a little Chip makes me laugh!!!
hooray! congratulations, we're so happy for you guys! Does this mean we'll get to see your new maternity line? We'll have to talk, we are thinking of coming to NY in early '08, don't want to miss you this time!
yay, i'm so excited for you, and i think our due dates are the same - only i haven't found out what i'm having yet! you'll be fine with a boy, really. and if he's like chip, at least you'll be entertained.
yeah yeah yeah!
Hi - After having time to think about your little guy, I have no small amount of fear and trepidation for his survival - that is unless Ruth decides he is a friendly alien, and not an invading-move-over-I'm-the-new-baby threat. My older brother only succeeded in breaking my leg (pulling me off the changing table) but with Ruth's creativity and ability to make impossible messes... well....!
Maybe you can find some sort of alarm that goes off when Ruth and baby are within 3 feet of the other.? I just love that little girl - she is so "into" and about shaping her whole world, but that may not be too good a thing from little brother's viewpoint. :)
Sorry, just couldn't resist. You've got fun times ahead of you! :) Love ya!
