i was so happy with that, i decided to turn what was left of this:

cinnamon butter!

10 minutes of shaking and i feel like i could have walked the plains.

*just in case you are feeling sorry for me, the poor girl who apparently went all the way through the mormon church's primary system without ever making butter in baby food jars on pioneer day, don't. you can rest assured that my primary leaders did not fail me. i'm just a little slow (16 years slow) to figure out real-life application.

i did, however, go all the way through the young women's program without ever once learning how to cross stitch, knit or crochet. how did that happen?

Katie, how'd you do that? I somehow *did* escape the primary system without experiencing the baby jar butter phenomenon. The cinnamon butter looks awesome, and I could see how it would be hard not to grab a fingerful or two.

I'd happily teach you how to cross-stitch by the way. Not sure how you escaped that one!! :)

YUM!
My primary leaders must have failed me because I have never even heard if the butter in a baby jar activity.
I like the idea of making homemade butter. Cinnamon butter is something I have never tried either (man I must be sheltered) but I do really like honey butter.
Thanks for the fun idea.

stacy, all you do is shake the cream for about 10 minutes or so (more if you have more cream) and it just turns into butter! its like magic! i love this so much because i always end up with these little cartons with just enough cream to not be able to do anything with.

with the first "batch" i salted the butter after it was already solid. with the cinnamon butter i added the cinnamon and brown sugar (i was out of white) while it was still liquid and then just carried it around the house, shaking away. the problem with cinnamon butter is that it makes me eat about four times more bread (and butter) than i normally do. but really, what is better than toast with cinnamon butter in the morning?

I have always wanted to learn how to make butter, shaking is all it takes? I too am LDS and I did not learn these things, but pioneer day was truly not the crazily celebrated day up in alaska as I have come to find out it is down here in utah!! good job, and cinnamon butter sounds soooo good!

yeah, I didn't learn any of that either.
Maybe you could teach me.
Any way we could make it WW style?

i am EXTREMELY impressed by this butter feat. i never heard of this in young women. in fact, i think my one culinary masterpiece from ages 12-17 was kraft mac and cheese.
i would like to shake up some butter next time i come over.
