charlie
he stares. he smiles. he laughs (but not a lot). he sticks his lower lip way out when he is about to cry; so sad and sweet. he likes to hang out on his stomach. he sucks his thumb and puts himself to sleep. he swings his arms and grabs for toys, but hasn't really figured out how to work his fingers yet. he kicks and flaps when he's excited. he cries when his sisters go to bed. he really likes chip, but likes me a little more. he spits up and now is starting to drool. he grabs his toes and stretches his legs. he swats at me over and over and over while he nurses and rolls to his back when he's mad. he talks more and more all the time- a nice high squeal to start then brings it down to a raspy and low "oooh" and "mmm". the girls have heard him say "mom" and "ice cream". . . he sweats a lot and gets smelly fast. he's not sure about baths but feels pretty good about what he sees in the mirror.
i am completely in love. and shocked that in one week from today he'll be four months old.

ahh, the joy of a boy.
i really love this stage of babies. it's so fun. and do you kiss him all day long? i would!
Oh Katie, you will continue to love getting to know your boy. Boys are so different than girls. My favorite thing about little boys is the sweet combination of "rough and tough" mixed with "soft and gentle." Being loved by a boy is different too. Not sure how to explain it but it feels different.
oohhh, Kate those pictures are sooo great. I love that he is sucking his thumb. He is going to be so big by the time I get to see him again!! Thanks for the pictures.
awwwww!!! what a perfect age! I love it when you can see glimmers of their personalities developing!
Oh yes. Baby love.... there is nothing like it. The milky smell of my baby's neck is completely intoxicating. I think a baby is what love smells like!
I love that when I look at his eyes I can totally see his older sisters too, and that he cries when they go to bed! Not quite so sure about the sweaty part, but I'm sure that is just all part of the joy! Ditto what Jeanie said- he is going to be huge when we see him next!
He IS looking so like Eve! Darling pictures. Love ya!
He is absolutely handsome!
Little boys are so sweet...I think partically because you know they grow up to be men. It makes all the baby things they do so special. Evan sucks his thumb...and is also a lot harder to keep smelling 'fresh' than Makayla.
As an uninvited blogger, I am tip toeing onto your site. I feel a bit sneaky but have been missing you something fierce and took a peek; I'm glad I did. I am refreshed by your joie de vivre, your creativity and generous love for your beautiful family. You've inspired me to pull out my quilt and actually topstitch it, put up a canvas, break out the paints and, don't mention this to my poor husband, actually cook again.
The circle goes round.
It's good to see you again.
oh Charlie! what a great post. i love that he gets sweaty and cries when the girls go to bed. he's completely darling, I see so much of his sister's in him! terrific pictures too!
AW!!! So cute. He's changed so much in these first few months. It always blows my mind how fast babies go from Acme Newborn to full fledged miniature family member. Your pictures are always so great, Katie!
He is beautiful. Aren't little boys just so great?
And, he's adorable!! What fun to have a little one around again. Not that I want one, but he would be fun to borrow. Enjoy him all you can.
*hugs*
Your charlie is so darn cute! How different is it from having two little girls, now to have a boy added into the mix? He has such a sweet face, like he can do no wrong!
I really think he looks like your baby pictures, do you think? Especially the eyes.
Four months?? Wow, where did that time go? He is such a cutie, and I loved your description of what he's like at this stage.
Wow Katie, he got so big! He's adorable!
Oh! Your little Charlie is adorable. Really. I have a little boy of my own now who is going on five months... and you just helped me realise how precious this time is, and how I need to document/preserve it forever. Thanks (and congratulations, too).
