valentines past

i'm putting a hold on my attempts to get decent shots of the girls' journals until i can get myself home during the forty minute slot when it isn't dismally dark in our place.. winter..

instead, here's a little reminder of what we did to festivate (that's right) valentine's day last year:

felt headbands for the girls and felt bracelets for friends.

looks like i've got some headbands to find and some figuring to do. we're a last minute kind of crew around here, so even though we don't have anything in the works right now, i imagine by the time we run out the door friday morning we'll have something fun to give to the people we love (or at least like okay).. a big snowstorm is supposed to come in tonight. i'm already planning on having everyone home tomorrow to drink hot chocolate and hatch a scheme for our valentine's day fun. if nothing else, we'll draw some hearts, tape them to a big stack of starbursts and call it true love.

I made these headbands the other day and just love them! So easy and festive. And, if my girls can't keep them on, then I can wear them, by golly!

Great idea especially since we're not allowed to bring food to school. I not sure if I'll have time to make these but hopefully.

Hi Katie,

I don't have kids of my own yet, but if I did, and I had already copied your ideas I might move on to make some of these, that I stumbled upon after reading this entry.

We don't really celebrate Valentines Day in Denmark as you do in the States, but it might catch on if we make it about the kids as well instead of just florists and chocolate manufacturers :) How I would have loved one of those headbands as a little girl!

Love to see a post from you - as someone said, so creative and yet so simple. X

Did you use invisible thread from purl for the headbands too?
love them!!

These are very yummy! My son has many food allergies (including tree nuts & peanuts) and although he's young (1 year old) his daycare celebrates the holidays and its hard to get around the "food/snack" thing for school-functions... I love the bracelet idea- they work for both girls and boys. Thanks for the idea- wonderful.

It does not get any cuter than this! I don't know how you're going to out-do these. But somehow you keep coming up with FANTASTIC ideas!
