TO THE CREEPY IMPOSTER
Dear Facebook and Flickr user Makena Becker. you are not me. those photos are not yours. and those children certainly aren't yours either. your creepiness has me reeling. you have five hours to remove all my photos, all my words, and all your really skeevy claims to be someone you are not before i take legal action. you have infringed on my copyright. and i am pretty freakin' ticked off and grossed out by it.

i would have loved to keep this a lot more vague and focused more on the idea of creating your own life, how figuring out who you are, little by little, and being true to that potential and the people you love is what makes life really great. and i think the higher road is to maybe leave names off.. but i can't. this is just too weird and violating and there is no possible explanation i can think of where someone would do this "innocently." if you have an idea, i'd love to hear it. i'd love to have something to wet the fury burning in my chest.
until then, i've got a birthday party to prepare for.
also: i have operated this blog the same way i try to live my life- based in faith and happiness and expecting the good rather than fearing and expecting the worst. this is not the worst, but it is really really weird. and i may need to adjust things around here for awhile until i figure this out..
ADDED: dear people (the non creepy ones), i love you. i sincerely do. i wish you were all here in person. i would hug you and thank you, wipe away my angry tears and take you to the park for a big picnic. we'd eat fruit, watch kids run around, soak up the sun and celebrate life (and the fact that the pictures were all taken down! hooray!!). after getting in our fill of spring at the park, you'd help me try to foster a little bit of sympathy and a little understanding for those who do things that aren't right, but then we'd let it go and move on... and after all that i'd try to sucker you into helping me make cupcakes and clean and decorate for tomorrow's party.. i've got a lot to do and am suddenly sooo very tired.

Katie - I have recently found your blog through other sources and have been so delighted to read your past posts. I am so sorry that such a crappy thing happened. I am glad to see your ideas still popping up on other blogs and your darling kids on pinhole press! I just wish you were still sharing - too bad for me. I know you are still out there doing marvelous things, I would just love to see it all!
I am so sorry this happened to you. It is a complete & personal violation of someone when this happens. I had it happen to me about 6 years ago, and I was just utterly flabergasted. WHY in the world would someone try to take someone elses photos as their own? People find out, this is a SMALL, SMALL planet we live on - how someone thinks they can get away with it is beyond me. I hope you get this taken care of soon, and things smooth out for you. Best of luck!

I am so angry, both on your & your family's behalf and, selfishly, for me! I just found your journal and it's lovely, I am reading the archives. The clothes for your kids have inspired me to start sewing clothes for donating again -they're so fun & forgive me, but appropriate for kids - kids clothes should be comfortable and fun and suit their personalities, and not be a tiny tacky version of a slightly slutty pop "star."
Really, they're wonderful.
As so many have said - it's an invasion and violation, and it's outright theft of your creations.

I enjoy your blog so much. I've seen a couple of your posts for pinholepress.com and it gives me hope that maybe you'll come back. I have a boy and girl and I wonder all the time what fantastic things you are making for your son - in addition to all the fantastic things you've made for your girls. I really wish you had an Etsy shop where you sold some of your patterns or just some tutorials on how to make the things you've made. I know there was a time when you had thought about creating some... I wish you would come back - you still have such a loyal following!!

Yikes! Just so you know, I've seen this happen before and people like that often don't stop at just one copycat account. It's a sick compulsion that keeps these people going and they often keep up several accounts at a time. Stay vigilant for other names/accounts with your info!
No matter how many times I see this, it alwasy creeps me out and makes me rethink my online life.

i didn't know you were famous
i just found your blog after i realized i had pinned several outfits you made for your girls. i have just taken up sewing for my daughter who is 1 and your clothes are so fresh and playful i just keep looking through your blog over and over and finding more inspiration. i hope you will come back soon or sell patterns or just be somewhere on the internet. i know you could inspire a lot of people, and you've already inspired me. i'm sure you are still making amazing clothes for your girls. best, jackie
