a great day

today ruthie turned three.

today molly, my brand new and beautiful niece, lived her first full day of life.

today i couldn't stop smiling as i thought of the cheers, the honking and the shouting in the streets that kept me up all last night.

this was a really great day.

Great picture, katie. I couldn't stop smiling yesterday either, though I wasn't kept up all night by honking in the streets. It's all very refreshing, isn't it?

pam, ruthie did not get into the dessert this year. she went for the strawberries instead. she downed half a container in about three minutes. but at least she didn't smear them all over herself. i think she's officially outgrown that party trick. . .

Happy Birthday to Ruthie and to Molly! You (former) Porters produce beautiful girls!

Happy Birthday Ruthie! Thanks for the info about Molly. I've been checking both of your blogs for news. How great that they share the same birthday like you predicted. Having a cousin "twin" is awesome - just ask Mikey and Eliot. :)

hello, i am a friend of Jen Wrathall's and one time she showed me your blog & I thought you had very creative ideas so I watch it from time to time (love it, by the way)! My friend just posted a blog entry and she is giving away a lot of vintage girl patterns she picked up and never used. They are adorable - I thought of you. Here is the link to her site: http://clayandrachelle.wordpress.com/

She is just giving them away and I thought you might put them to good use - they are really sweet. Best wishes!

HI Katie, I chatted with your brother in law Matt at church and he told me about your insane make-it skills and I had to check it out for myself. Sure enough, you have skills, and they are presented here beautifully! Thanks for sharing with us near-strangers!

I keep coming back to this picture just to look at Ruthie's cute nose. Oh I miss her!

Katie, I love this pitcure!! I may have asked you this before since I've always admired your pictures, but what lens do you use? I'm trying to see what lens I need for my Canon EOS. Do you just use a higher aperture to get the blurriness? I'd love any suggestions! By the way, we're expecting #3 and I'm going to do a triangle quilt like you did; it was fabulous and so creative! Oh and one more thing... my yahoo account was trashed by hackers so I have a new one. It's rickandbrandi [at] gmail. It would be great if you could email me there sometime with your contact info. Hope you're doing well! I know Rick would want me to say "hi" too. Take care, Brandi
