gaining, gaining
i have a dent in my forehead. a long story involving a stubborn cyst and an overly zealous dermatologist. the other night i was was talking to chip about this pregnancy and my weight gain. as we were talking he pointed out that my dent has become more pronounced as i've grown and then said "huh! it's weird to say your forehead's getting fat, but there it is."
yes. there it is. everyone, attention please; i've got a fat forehead.
on a totally unrelated note. actually, probably a completely related note. . . i made another cake this past weekend. this time it was red velvet in honor of miriam's (chip's sister) birthday. if you're a fan of the red velvet cake then you should check out this recipe from "cake man raven" of brooklyn cake fame. although i'm still a little creeped out by how much red dye i dumped into the batter, it really was so moist and delicious, and with cream cheese frosting it's tough to go wrong.

two things: nice chip, nice.
and once i used a ton of red dye and it turned all the guests teeth red for two days....did that happen to you guys??
oh man, red velvet cake is the best!
you are too funny--a fat forehead?! : ) i didn't even notice your forehead when i looked at the picture. all i could see were your fabulous eyebrows! wow, i'm jealous. speaking of a stubborn cyst, i have one on my nose that drives me crazy. so those are removable? is that expensive? sorry, i know that was SO not the point of this post.
fat forehead... that cracks me up.
I hate the getting fat part pf pregnancy. Hang in there!
I wanted to DIE laughing when I read this. This so beats my "well maintained" hair. I'll have to make sure that I get Bobby to read this entry- or maybe I should convientetly make sure he steers clear, since he doesn't really need any help in the awesome comment department!
PS- what flavor is red velvet cake anyway? Is it white cake like? I've never had it before...
ROFL, too funny. Husbands are SO sympathetic! I didn't think that your forehead looked fat at all. With Lizzie, I gained 45 lbs., I was fat EVERYWHERE, so try to remember that it all comes off again. Hope that you are feeling well. Love ya,
why does chip always have to point out that one little flaw and make you obsess about it? it looks the same to me.
and I can't wait to try out that cake! I didn't know he gave out his recipe. Is this the one in Fort Greene or the one Mara claims the only reason she was able to get one is because Christian is a rapper?
Katie, Katie, Katie! I am so happy to hear that my husband isn't the only one to say stupid things to his pregnant wife! You don't have a fat forehead. And by the way, I have never even noticed the "dent". Silly girl:)
It gives me so much comfort to know that you are a normal woman who gains weight during pregnancy. All my sisters-in-law are these crazy skinny women that have babies and don't ever gain an ounce. Ew.
Sweet! Thanks for the recipe rec. We were going to try red velvet cupcakes for v-day but somehow lost the motivation between 800 batches of cookies. I think we'll give them a try soon, though. We've been comparing recipes-- some are much more cocoa based and some are much more vanilla-y. All seem to have crazy amounts of dye. Do you use the Wilton gels or the dropper kind?
I feel that I need a sweet treat and this might just do it. There isn't much cocoa in it, so is it a real mild chocolate flavor? Looks soooo good in your pic.
Ok, I have always loved that you just eat when you are pregnant. I say live it up, when else can you indulge with a better excuse?? And we all know you can take it off again, so enjoy the dent while it is with you! (and it is not like anyone would notice it without it being pointed out anyway!)
Oh my gosh!!! You're married to Chip, my long lost old friend!! I've been trying to track down his address for YEARS. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am! I knew Chip our freshman year at BYU and he is one of the funniest people I've ever met. Tell him I say hi (and, I do want your address!)
Hi again - also, I wanted to say that now I've calmed down and had a chance to peek through your blog - you are amazingly talented and funny as well. And your girls are just beautiful. So, nice to meet you! :)
you guys are all so great. sometimes i really love this blogging business. here are the answers to some of the questions:
pam-
no teeth turned red, not even lips, amazingly enough. did your recipe have vinegar in it? my theory is that the vinegar "sets" the coloring.
jenny-
depending on the cyst you can either get it cut out, or (as was the case with mine) the dermatologist can inject it with something so it deflates. unfortunately she gave me too much and so i'm permanently dented. from what i remember, the insurance paid for most of it . . .
megan (and jeanie too)-
it depends on the red velvet cake, some are very chocolatey while others are pretty much like white cake. this one has a tiny bit of cocoa so it is kind of mysterious- white cake with a little something different going on.
alysha-
yes this is the place in fort greene. hah!! mara is great. . .
laurel-
i bought a little 1oz bottle of liquid red dye just for this baby.
hey email me your phone number cause i have a class assignment I could use your help on! email the number to me at hais_mommy@yahoo.com!
thanks katie!!
